Crowbarred Like A Vampire
As most of you know...I fucking hate Microsoft Windows. Anyone ready to slow dance with that statement...I'm ready.
All of my Grandparents are dead...may the Maker bless their souls and comfort them, but I inherited some useful stuff from them. Cast Iron skillets and crowbars. I do loves me some cornbread, and everyone needs a nice crowbar...or two...or three. I have three in different sizes and weights.
Anyway, I've been whooieing with this particular laptop for some time now. This bitch will not behave. I have built hundreds of machines in the past...I have installed operating systems hundreds, if not thousands, of times...this bitch will not mind...so I crowbarred her ass...Man, that felt good.
Ding Dong the Bitch is dead.
Now, I realize I could have set her straight, but it was more fun to stake her.
Machines should not fuck with me.

That looks like a T40 or T42, no? I have two T40's sitting on my desk, alongside my desktop machine. One of the T40's is my web server, and the other is my porn...I mean play around with machine.
I know ThinkPads...and I am willing to bet that your T40 suffered from memory sockets coming loose due to the poor soldering at the factory....not to mention, surface mount technology can be fragile in laptops if the internal skeletal structure of a laptop isn't strong enough to handle people lifting their laptops by the corners and carrying them. On the earlier ThinkPads, this treatment would literally "bend" the motherboard somewhat to the point of causing the memory socket(s) to fail...thus requiring either touch up soldering or a motherboard replacement.
The T43s and up don't suffer from this problem....the folks at Lenovo actually got it right this time.
Nice job. I've never quite had to do that. Threatening the electronics with a sledgehammer usually works wonders.....
